Summary
Upon arriving in Stormreach, the PCs made their way to the Ship’s Cat. As it turned out, Linberk had made a habit of staying at this tavern and inn and knew the place well. Hes was a young half-elf woman in black leather who made contact with them shortly after they arrived. She promised to provide them with basic supplies during their stay and any information she could within the limits of her ability. She revealed herself to be an associate of the Bilge Rats gang in Stormreach and knew a few things about where an item like the Ebon Tableau might end up, specifically the types of fences in the city who might handle such an item. She directed the PCs to a fence named Burgundy Tyr at the Red Ring, believing him to be the most likely fence for such an item.

At the Red Ring, the PCs tracked down Burgundy Tyr easily enough, as he was a well-known stable director in addition to being a fence. Upon meeting with Tyr, he revealed that although he had not personally fenced the Ebon Tableau, he knew who had. Unfortunately, he had imprisoned the aspiring fence, a fellow named Six-Fingered Jin, for stepping in on his territory, and had imprisoned him in the dungeons beneath the Red Ring as a slave. Tyr had a similar fate in mind for the PCs, and they soon found themselves sharing a dungeon with Jin. After rescuing him from the beatings of his fellow prison-mates, the PCs spoke with Jin about the Ebon Tableau, but Jin refused to spill a word until the PCs freed him from Tyr’s dungeons and his fate as a slave. The PCs agreed, and sprang a trap to break free. Unfortunately, they discovered during their escape attempt that all of their gear had been placed in the ring above, becoming part of the next gladiatorial game. The PCs were forced to break into the ring, where the crowd assumed their presence was part of the show, so that they could recover their equipment. They had to content with wild animals and other slaves in order to rescue their possessions, and as luck would have it, one of the gates into the arena was left hanging ever so slightly open, just enough for the PCs to slip through. They made their way with Jin stealthily through the tunnels under the Red Ring and out into the streets of Stormreach and freedom. As promised, Jin agreed to tell them all he knew of the Ebon Tableau.

Summary
Linberk, Quint, and Zen received a visit from Shadow Lupae informing them that their presence was desired in the city of Sharn and that a swift House Lyrandar vessel named the Heritage had already been arranged for passage. Meanwhile Adhorn and Velt were approached by a halfling in the city of Sharn who said he had a job that would fit their talents. The PCs all gathered together in the apartments of the Silver Dragon Tower to meet before the Council of the Obscured, where Adhorn, Linberk, and Velt joined the Cabal of Shadows (Quint and Zen already being members). They were told to meet back aboard the Heritage the following morning where their mission would be given to them.

Aboard the Heritage, the PCs received their mission. They were to meet with a contact in Shargon’s Teeth, a sahuagin as it turned out, and assist the creature in order to cement an alliance between his tribe and the Cabal. They were also to meet with an individual named Hes at the Ship’s Cat Tavern in Stormreach and scout the city for an appropriate base of operations for the Cabal. After a couple days at sea, the Heritage stopped to take aboard it’s sahuagin guild, a creature named Dilmoolgha. Dilmoolgha turned out to be the PCs’ contact who requested that the PCs locate and return a sacred stone called the Ebon Tableau which had been taken by “landwalkers” to the city of Stormreach. The voyage was temporarily waylaid by an attack from Skum, but they were dispatched and the Heritage made the rest of its way to Stormreach without incident.

Summary
The PCs observed the Siberys shower at the fountain outside the gates to the Cerulean Hills. After the shower was over and the stargazes had cleared out, Norrum noticed bubbles coming up from a flagstone under the fountain. Prying the flagstone loose, the PCs found a tunnel down beneath. It led past a layer of rubble inhabited by mindshredder larva, which the PCs slew. Beyond was a larger cave which apparently had been used recently as a hide-out of sorts and a large gaping hole in the ground which went far deep into the ground. The PCs were ambushed from behind by cultists of the Cults of the Dragon Below. Although they slew some of the cultists, their sheer number soon overwhelmed the PCs and forced them back to the edge of the giant hole. However, just when all seemed lost, an enormous blue dragon clawed its way up from the hole and frightened the cultists away. It introduced itself as Stormrider and claimed to belong to The Chamber, leaking bits of the Prophecy to good-intentioned individuals such as the Crimson Codex. He agreed to work with the Codex and offer the PCs assistance in the future. The whole charade was merely a trap he had laid for the cultists of the Dragon Below, as they had been hindering his efforts lately.

Treasure
As a reward for finding Stormrider and forming an alliance with him, the Crimson Codex granted each primary character 600 gp, a potion of cure light wounds, and a chime of opening with one charge. In addition, two flasks of acidic fire and a scroll of repair light damage were discovered. After selling the mundane loot found on the bodies of the cultists, the primary characters each received 51 gp, 2 sp, and 8 cp.

Notes
Rinnion officially joined the Crimson Codex at the conclusion of this adventure.

Salandar received the following boon: For fulfilling your role in the Prophecy by catching a rat tossed by the juggling shifter, you have been blessed by some divine force. For the next month, you gain a +2 divine bonus to AC against vermin and a +2 divine bonus to saving throws versus vermin poison. Ends Nymm 12th, 999 YK.

All primary characters received the following boon: PCs get a +2 circumstance modifier to Diplomacy checks to gather information made in Stormreach for one week, and those checks can be made in one-quarter the time. In addition, no gold needs to be paid to make those checks. This bonus increases to +4 if the PCs have the 999 YK Edition of Stormrider’s Chapbook. In addition, your invitation to work closely with Stormrider on the study of the draconic Prophecy fulfills the special requirement to gain access to the Dragon Prophet prestige class from Magic of Eberron.

All primary characters received the following boon: If the PCs take the time to access Happy Hubbard’s library, they gain a +1 to any Knowledge checks concerning Xen’drik. PCs with the Research feat gain a +3 circumstance bonus to checks affected by the Research feat. Hubbard’s collection can be considered “dedicated to a specific topic” regarding Xen’drik history for use with the Research feat.

Summary
Salandar received a missive at the House Sivis message station which purported to be from none other than Ohnal Caldyn himself, author of the Caldyn Fragments. The message instructed him to gather trusted allies to meet with a spellscale named Lzohki who had information on a popular chapbook by someone named Stormrider which allegedly contained bits of the draconic Prophecy interspersed within. The Crimson Codex desired to know where the author was getting his information. Upon arriving at the tavern where they were supposed to meet their contact, the PCs discovered only a copy of Stormrider’s latest chapbook and learned the location of the publisher. However, they were beset upon by the Stormreach Guard, who wanted to question them regarding their alleged involvement in the murder of a member of the Guard. Most of the PCs escaped down an alleyway, however, Dempsey was spotted by the Guard, and he gave himself up rather than start an altercation and was imprisoned to await a trial before a magistrate. The PCs tracked down the publishing house which was being watched by tieflings. After dispatching the tielfings, the PCs entered the publishing house of Happy Hubbard and met the publisher who described the mysterious circumstances under which he had acquired the original chapbook by Stormrider, claiming he did not know who gave it to him, only that he was delivered the text anonymously at a fountain outside of the gate to the Cerulean Hills. The PCs made their way through the crowded city and encountered a child named Maldwick they had seen earlier outside the Black Wrack who had stumbled into an alley full of dire rats. The child was bitten twice by the rats but the wounds were superficial and Graice tended to his wounds. Maldwick said the word had been spreading about the PCs and their alleged involvement with the murder of a guard and warned them to keep their heads down. As the game session drew to a close, the PCs approached the gate to the Cerulean Hills to see what they could find at the fountain.

Notes
At the end of this session, the group approved altering the character advancement speed from Slow to Medium. The vote was unanimous. Before applying experience for this session, I converted each character’s experience total to the Medium track by calculating the proportional advancement each character had made to the next level in order to keep character levels and wealth at the same level.

Summary
The heroes agreed to meet a courier on behalf of House Cannith to deliver a package from the courier to Channa d’Cannith. Unfortunately a warforged slew the courier, one Bonal Geldem, a visiting professor from Morgrave University just as the heroes arrived on the scene. After killing the warforged, a final messenger flew quickly away from the warforged’s chest cavity to parts unknown. The heroes retrieved a journal from Bonal Geldem’s possessions and brought it to Channa; unfortunately it was not the item she was looking for. However, it did hold a clue to the item in question, an ancient schema in a forgotten House Cannith forge underneath the city of Stormreach in the Depths of Despair. The heroes ventured into the Depths of Despair, a sewer complex underneath the Forgelight district to recover the schema, discovering the sewers to be invested with followers of the Dark Six. The session was brought to a close before the heroes could complete the mission.

Summary
Brother Malden, a friar of the Silver Flame, hired the heroes to eliminate a gambler’s den that had taken root in the Harbor district. Malden proclaimed that the Silver Flame had kept the city free of such vice, but that such places occasionally sprouted up and must be dealt with. Upon entering the gambler’s den, the heroes wrecked the gambling tables and slew the guards, while allowing the frightened gamblers to go free. The heroes discovered the gambler’s den was run by an individual named Ramsey Mourcort, although any ties or affiliations he might have had with gangs (if any) within Stormreach were never determined.

Notes
Steven joined the group for the first time during this session. This was Rinnion’s first adventure with the adventuring company.
